KEY ADVANTAGES OF THE PROGRAM
CURRICULUM PROGRAM
Drone technologies at UITM are a separate educational path focused on practice. You will learn through projects, tasks, and real-world challenges, with theory appearing only where it truly supports practice. The program responds to current trends in the development of the UAV, IT, and automation industries, allowing you to gain competencies that are applicable in the modern economy.
The program is developed in cooperation with experts and companies from the unmanned technologies sector, which means you develop skills that are in demand on the job market. You will work with simulations, design tools, and software used in drone systems. This allows you to build an advantage from the very beginning and gain competencies that you can use in a long-term career.
72%
of classes in the study program are PRACTICAL
28%
of classes in the study program are THEROETHICAL
This course will prepare you for designing, building, testing, and safely operating UAS systems used in security, industry, logistics and emergency response. Through practical classes, building and testing drone constructions (e.g., FPV) you will develop real engineering skills and the ability to scale autonomous solutions. You will also prepare to obtain the A1/A3 UAS remote pilot certification.
In this course, you will learn how to design and implement applications that run simultaneously on Android, iOS, and web platforms while maintaining functional, quality, and security consistency. You will gain the skills to quickly develop, update, and maintain software used in systems with increased requirements for reliability, availability, and scalability.
You will develop the ability to implement AI/ML models directly on onboard computing units and integrate them with drone operating systems. You will also learn how to practically use artificial intelligence tools to analyze data from onboard cameras, including real-time automatic object detection, classification, and tracking.
You will learn how to protect unmanned systems and digital infrastructure from operational and cyber threats. You will become familiar with threat modeling for UAS systems, securing control communications, analyzing GNSS navigation resilience, designing and verifying the security of mobile applications, and managing identity and access (IAM) in drone ecosystems. You will also gain knowledge of practical mechanisms for data protection and maintaining operational continuity, including authentication, encryption, and securing control and data transmission channels against attempts to take control of the system, its vision, or telemetry, as well as against disruptions and interference.
You will master practical skills in creating mobile platforms, from selecting propulsion and power systems, through integrating electronics and sensors, to configuring control systems and performing missions. You will learn how onboard computers work and how to use software for configuration, mission planning, and flight monitoring. You will gain skills in system configuration, calibration, and diagnostics, route planning (waypoint setting, automated path creation, and failsafe mode configuration), as well as log analysis and tuning ESC controller parameters. You will also gain knowledge of operational safety, including failsafe mechanisms, emergency stop (E-stop), and watchdog systems.
You will master the principles of designing, securing, and maintaining data flows in unmanned systems. You will also gain knowledge about critical elements of data engineering specific to drone environments, including acquiring, aggregating, and processing telemetry, imaging data, and mission logs, as well as designing secure and fault-tolerant communication channels between UAS, ground control stations, and the public cloud (ensuring data confidentiality, integrity, and availability through access control and encryption mechanisms). You will learn about highly scalable and efficient NoSQL and SQL databases optimized for fast read/write operations and distributed environments.
In this course, you will complete project-based exercises in real-time systems development, covering runtime environment configuration, handling peripherals and interfaces (including GPIO, UART, I²C, SPI, PWM, and ADC), and implementing typical control and data acquisition functions used in mobile systems.
