Aktualne zainteresowania filozoficzne dotyczą etycznych, społecznych i politycznych wyzwań związanych z przyszłością człowieka w kosmosie, bioetyki, filozofii feministycznej, etyki populacyjnej i zmian klimatycznych, etyki reprodukcyjnej, jak i filozofii antynatalizmu.

Bekkera (NAWA) na roczny staż naukowy na Uniwersytecie Yale (2021-2022), kierownik projektu „Bioetyka eksploracji kosmosu” finansowanego przez NCN w ramach programu Opus 21 (2022-2024) na kwotę 157 680 złotych, kierownik projektu „Antynatalistyczna bioetyka i przyszłość ludzkości” finansowanego przez NCN w ramach programu Opus 27 (2025-2028) na kwotę 240 000 złotych.

W 2019 roku pod jego redakcją ukazała się książka pod tytułem „The Human Factor in a Mission to Mars. An Interdisciplinary Approach” wydana przez wydawnictwo Springer. W 2020 roku ukazała się kolejna książka pod tytułem „Human Enhancements for Space Missions. Lunar, Martian, and Future Missions to the Outer Planets” (także Springer). W 2021 ukazała się „The Human Factor in the Settlement of the Moon. An Interdisciplinary Approach” (red. Margaret Boone Rappaport i Konrad Szocik).
W maju 2023 roku opublikowana została monografia pod tytułem „The Bioethics of Space Exploration” w Oxford University Press. Książka ta jest głównym efektem projektu badawczego realizowanego na Uniwersytecie Yale w ramach stypendium im. Bekkera otrzymanego z NAWA.
W czerwcu 2024 roku ukazała się w Oxford University Press kolejna monografia Szocika pod tytułem „Feminist Bioethics in Space: Gender Inequality in Space Exploration”, która jest głównym efektem projektu realizowanego w ramach grantu NCN Opus 41 (UMO 2021/41/B/HS1/00223).
W listopadzie 2025 roku Wydział I Nauk Humanistycznych i Społecznych Polskiej Akademii Nauk przyznał dr. hab. Konradowi Szocikowi, prof. WSIiZ, Nagrodę Naukową im. Tadeusza Kotarbińskiego w obszarze filozofii. Nagroda została przyznana za publikację pt. „Feminist Bioethics in Space: Gender Inequality in Space Exploration”.
Obecnie dr hab. Szocik pracuje nad kolejną monografią poświęconą zagadnieniu antynatalizmu ze szczególnym odniesieniem do naszej przyszłości w kosmosie. Dr hab. Szocik jest także redaktorem w czasopiśmie „Studia Humana”. Dwie spośród redagowanych przez niego monografii wydanych w Springerze zostaną przetłumaczone na język chiński przez China Astronautics Publishing House.
